1 day, Marrakesch - Timenkar - 4h drive - hike 0.5h - 1.5h

The Timenkar Plateau holds for us an impressive geological diversity with 13 typical Berber villages in terraced landscape.

Departure at 8.30 from Marrakesch towards the ski resort Oukaimeden. There we drive up to the plateau of Timenkar at 2200m. We will drive through the village of Ait Zdi Ali Oufars crossing a varied vegetation of Maghreb maritime pines, some oxycedar junipers, and cedars, while keeping the view of the villages in the canyon which descends towards Ourika. Arrival at the beginning of the plateau at 1900m, superb and panoramic view of Marrakech. On the way, we gradually return to the heart of mountain village life with its simple and beautiful landscapes. On the way, we cross 13 different villages.

Between the driving from one typical Berber village to an other, we have the chance to go for some hiking if you like. From 30min. to 1,5h.

The geological structure changes continuously and also its color, from iron oxidation formations, volcanic rocks and granite. We will have a delicious meal with locals in the village of Chiket, 2160m on a terrace with a breathtaking view of the High Atlas. After the refreshing meal we zigzag down via Tadrart and after about 1 hour we reach Setti Fatma. From there it goes in a 1.5 hour drive back to Marrakech through the green valley of Ourika.
